I can’t quit you, iPad Pro
My string of iPad purchases is almost as embarrassing as my string of iPhone purchases.
I've bought a new iPhone every year since the iPhone 3GS
(Yes. I have a problem.)
While I haven't been through quite as many iPads … I’ve purchased plenty. But I've made it almost a year without one. Last summer, I sold my 2018 12.9” iPad Pro to get a MacBook Air.
It's all Zoom’s fault. I had meetings to run for Write of Passage, and Zoom’s iPad app didn't allow for breakout room management. And inexplicably, Zoom plasters the chat over the middle of the screen, rather than tucking it neatly off to the right side of the screen, like on the Mac. It's like someone standing on a conference table, and holding up a cardboard sign in the middle of an in-person meeting. So dumb.
Anyway.
We now stand on the cusp of new iPad Pros. and I'm coming back. I love the portability, the pencil, and the instant cellular connectivity. And I heartily endorse the Smart Keyboard. The keys have a unique sound and travel, and I like that my kids cannot get Chips Ahoy crumbs in between the keys, because the fabric cover prevents food-based atrocities.
In the next week or two, it seems, Apple will announce updated iPad Pros. Once again, I'm in. Zoom can't divide us forever iPad Pro. I can't quit you. And why would I want to.
